Colored Pencil Workshops
Join Catherine for this exciting online series in March!

Colored pencils are the perfect art material! Their sharp points offer the precision of drawing, while their profusion of color offers the fantasyland of painting. In three creative and information-packed Sunday afternoons, this workshop series will reveal all they can do!
WORKSHOP 1: COLORED PENCIL TECHNIQUES - Sunday, March 7 from 1 to 4 PM
We start with an in-depth look at the basics - colors, brands, types, surfaces, and accessories - followed by a live demonstration showing the proper order of application. We go on to explore five traditional methods - toning, layering, blending, burnishing, and mixing - then wrap up with a finished still-life drawing that puts all the techniques we've practiced to use. Just right for those who are new to this medium, or want to brush up on the basics.
WORKSHOP 2: COLORED PENCIL BOTANICALS - Sunday, March 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Colored pencils are just right for recording the delicate color transitions and detailed textures of botanical subject matter! During this second workshop in the series, we will learn to depict the complex structures of petals, leaves, and stems, as well as to describe floral color schemes and surfaces. The workshop will feature a live step-by-step demonstration, a group practice session, and the completion of a finished botanical illustration. A great experience for those who are familiar with basic techniques, and/or have taken the first workshop.
WORKSHOP 3: COLORED PENCIL LANDSCAPES - Sunday, March 21 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Colored pencils are excellent for describing the wide variety of landscape scenes, from skies and mountains to waves to woodlands. For this third and final workshop of the series, we will express Nature's vistas by discovering an expanded repetoire of application techniques, compositional considerations, and ways to depict three-dimensional space. After an instructor demonstration and a period of group practice, we will create a finished landscape drawing. Perfect for those with previous art experience, who love the subject matter of landscape.
Tuition is $100 for 1 workshop, $175 for any 2 workshops, or $250 for all 3 workshops.
Participants may pay using Venmo at @Catherine-Carter-Art-Studio, or with credit or debit card below.
Upon registration, we will contact you with the Zoom meeting number and password, and send along a recommended materials list, workshop handouts, and images of project examples.
We look forward to creating with you!
