We are so excited to start the New Year with brand new desks for the school! Nice and sturdy, more comfortable for our students, with lockable wheels for easily rearranging our classroom. Great way to kick off 2024, and just in time for our new schedule, which starts next week!
We have a little "down" time between sessions to create examples of the various projects we'll make in upcoming classes. Here's a nice one for a children's class in January, using graphite and colored pencils and black Sharpie markers:
Another highlight from 2023: We were so lucky to have Ariana Medeiros as our teaching assistant during our summer art camp! Ari has been taking classes with us since 2019, and she is currently attending high school with plans for a career in costume design. She was a great help and inspiration to the students in our classes, who admired her beautiful drawings (colored pencils are her favorite) and appreciated her friendly and gentle manner. We hope to have her back in the New Year!
We are looking back this week at some of the Best Creative Moments in our classroom during 2023! During our summer art camp, we were so fortunate to have a visit from Joe Rebelo of Rebelo's Kenpo Karate, our neighbor at Hatch Street Studios. In addition to being a karate grandmaster, Joe is also an expert on Asian history and culture. The students drew images of dragons in colored pencil, then Joe told us all about their legend and lore. He even brought examples of dragon sculptures from his personal collection, seen on the table beside him. What a great experience for our students!
We wish the Happiest of Holidays to all our current and former students, and all who are joining our program as new students in the New Year!
