WHALING MUSEUM ART EXHIBIT
Our Saturday morning Realistic Drawing class recently had the honor of presenting our work at the New Bedford Whaling Museum's exhibition titled "IGNITE: A Youth Showcase of Art Inspired by Historic Women of the SouthCoast," on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Our collaborative portrait of New Bedford activist Elizabeth Carter Brooks (see below) was on display as part of the event. Participating students included, left to right: Audrey Wallace, Ariana Medeiros, Leila Hijazi (front), Sophie Michaelis, and Alaina Chasse. Photo by Michael Pietragalla.
Here is our group portrait of Elizabeth Carter Brooks, made of colored pencil on toned paper (faces) and metallic marker on colored paper (frames). These portraits were made by, left to right, Audrey Wallace, Alaina Chasse, Sophie Michaelis, Ariana Medeiros, and Leila Hijazi.
