COMIC ART WORKSHOP
COMIC CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Saturday, June 28, 1 to 4 PM
This one-day workshop will focus on how to design and develop original comic characters of all types, from heroes to aliens to robots to creatures to everyday people. We will consider all aspects of our characters, from their life stories and personalities to physical features and clothing styles, and then use these elements to illustrate them in detail. The class will include in-depth instruction on drawing techniques, anatomy of the face and body, facial expressions, and posing tips.
We will use multiple types of pencils and markers on sketch paper and bristol paper for our illustrations. Students will finish the workshop with a set of full-color character reference sheets.
Our returning guest teacher for this series is OLIVIA HARRIS, a talented artist whose favorite subject is cartooning. Originally from Carver, Olivia has a degree from the Illustration BFA Program at UMass Dartmouth. She is currently continuing her art studies at Bristol Community College, where she also works as a staff assistant at the college's Grimshaw-Gudewicz Gallery. While her art focuses on characters, she also loves prop and clothing design.
There is a limit of 8 students.
Tuition is $105, with all art materials provided.
Light snacks are provided.
