ART MATERIALS DISCOVERY

Postponed until Fall 2021

Picture
What is the difference between oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints? What's the difference between charcoal sticks and charcoal pencils? What's the difference between dry pastels and oil pastels? Should I paint on stretched canvas, canvas board, panels, or paper? How are water-soluble colored pencils different from regular ones? And what the heck is "gouache"?

How do you decide what to use? How do you decide what to buy?

This workshop is all about drawing and painting materials - the different types that are available, what each one does best, how they can combine with one another, and how to choose what works for you.

Now is the chance to get some use out of that item you purchased months ago on a whim, or received as a gift, but haven't gotten around to trying - or a material that you've always wanted to use, but weren't sure how to get started with.

Through both lecture and demonstration, Catherine will review a wide variety of supplies and answer all of your questions. We will then create a unique finished still-life drawing together, using a range of materials, separately and in combination.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2021.
