CATHERINE CARTER ART SCHOOL opened our doors at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford in 2018, offering realistic drawing classes to children. In 2019, we moved to nearby 90 Hatch and expanded our offerings to include mixed-media classes and workshops for adults. Also in 2019, we were approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to offer professional development points to public school teachers. Then, in 2020, we relocated to our current sunlit and spacious classroom at 88 Hatch Street, Studio 210B, a space we share with the Spotted Newt Gallery.
We currently offer seasonal Saturday afternoon workshops in drawing and painting to students 18 and older, in addition to a summer program for children and teens. Our current schedule is listed HERE.
Our motto is SERIOUS STUDY IN AN ENCOURAGING ENVIRONMENT. Our goal is to teach traditional art techniques in a welcoming classroom, providing clear and precise instruction. We help students of all ages develop their artistic skills and discover their own unique creative voices. Our program serves everyone from absolute beginners who hope to learn the basics to experienced artists who want to explore new possibilities.
You are welcome to visit the PHOTOS page for a peek into our classroom, and the TESTIMONIALS page to hear directly from our students.
