CATHERINE CARTER, M.F.A., is an abstract artist who has exhbited her paintings in museums and galleries across the United States as well as internationally, including shows at the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, and the U.S. Embassies in Oman and Cameroon. Her work is held in numerous public, corporate, hospitality, and private collections, including the Boston Public Library, the Four Seasons Hotel, and Meditech Information Technology. Her exhibits have been reviewed in the Boston Globe, the Providence Journal, and Art New England.
Catherine is the owner and principal instructor at CATHERINE CARTER ART STUDIO, a school for aspiring artists of all ages in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was an adjunct faculty member at Framingham State University for 16 years, and currently teaches at Lasell University and Community College of Rhode Island. She has also served as an instructor at art museums in Attleboro, Framingham, New Bedford, Newport, and Worcester. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lesley University, and a Diploma from the School of Fashion Design in Boston.
As an independent curator, she has presented a wide variety of themed group exhibitions at eight New England venues including the New Bedford Art Museum in New Bedford, the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Gallery at Bristol Community College in Fall River, and the Fort Point Arts Community Gallery in Boston.
